Of course, there can be multiple reasons for any action.
For Example:

Right thing for right reason…
Help an elderly person across the street because she/he looks scared and needs assistance.

Right thing for wrong reason…
Help an elderly person across the street because you expect she/he will give you a nice tip.

Wrong thing for right reason…
Help an elderly person across the street, but when you get there find out she/he didn’t want to cross the street.

Wrong thing for wrong reason…
Drag an elderly person across the street even though you know she/he doesn’t want to cross the street.

 

SIN OF COMMISSION SIN OF OMISSION DO THE RIGHT THING
Rob someone. Stand by and watch someone being robbed. Help the person being robbed or call the police.
Hurt someone. Allow someone to be hurt. Prevent someone from being hurt.
Tell a lie. Don’t say anything, even though you know the truth. Tell the truth.
Purposely run over someone with your car. Fail to help someone who has been run over. Assist someone who has been run over.
Steal money from the collection plate for the hungry. Don’t put anything in the collection plate for the hungry. Put a meaningful amount in the collection plate.
Use bad language. Don’t say your prayers. Say your prayers.
Teach a friend to do something wrong. Have nothing to do with a friend. Teach your friend to do the right thing.
Cheat on a test. Don’t take the test. Do the test on your own.
Say bad things about people, even though they don’t deserve it. Don’t say good things about people when they deserve it. Say good things about people when they deserve it.
